Avoid the “Marginal Costs” Mistake

To live a life of integrity and be free to choose and evaluate your alternatives you should not base decisions on the marginal costs and revenues that each alternative entails. This doctrine push everyone to leverage what they have put in place to succeed in the past, instead of guiding you to create the capabilities you'll need in the future. If the future is different—and it always is—then it’s the wrong thing to do.

If your attitude is that only smarter people have something to teach you, your learning opportunities will be very limited. You have to have a humble eagerness to learn something from everybody, so that your learning opportunities will be unlimited.

Prudence is the way to a happy life

Prudence is not an art or a technique or an ability to maximize your own utility and individual interests, as today is perceived. A prudent man is one who can recognize changing times and adapt, who can stay loyal to himself but also opens himself to the other, who recognizes another human being as an end not as a mean.

A prudent man asks himself everyday what is good (for me) to wish for not what should I do to get what I want.

You choose the metric your life will be judged upon

Think about the metric by which your life will be judged, and make a resolution to live every day so that in the end, your life will be judged a success.

The metric which assess my life for example isn’t amount of dollars but the individual people whose lives I’ve touched. I have learned this a bit late in file but better late than sorry.

Success: Earn more than you spend and treat each other well

Do not get into debt
